The program partners of ACCSP created SAFIS to meet the increasing need for real-time commercial landings data. SAFIS has been designed based on the ACCSP data standards and thus may be used by any of the partners for fisheries dependent data collection.
Since its initial deployment in Rhode Island for dealer reporting in 2003, SAFIS has expanded greatly and is now in use up and down the Atlantic coast. Today it consists of five distinct web-based applications designed to allow fishermen and dealers to report data electronically.
Provides up-to-date information on species caught and their impact on fisheries and quotas
Allows fisherman and dealers to access their previous data submissions
Fulfills state and federal reporting requirements through online data entry and reporting
Facilitates maintenance of partner-owned data such as participants, online permits, and vessels.
Standard Atlantic Fisheries Information System (SAFIS)
The ACCSP is a cooperative state-federal program that designs, implements, and conducts marine fisheries statistics data collection programs and integrates those data into a single data management system that will meet the needs of fishery managers, scientists, and fishermen
